Kia ora e te whānau

Well, here we are at the end of another big week of Maggie activity, and the second of our Maggie updates.

Regional Workshops.

We've had two kaimahi workshops so far, with the third scheduled for next week. Kicking off in Ōtautahi, kaimahi from across Canterbury and the West Coast gathered in person and online to share their views and ideas on what's possible for our future and how we might go about achieving this. Closely followed by the Otago Southland crew, many of whom dialled in from all across the spectacular south to collaborate and challenge each other on what our future could look like, and how we can better support whānau impacted by cancer.

We're looking forward to spending time with the crew in Nelson and Marlborough next week and hearing what you think about what's possible for Maggie and her whānau. Here's what a couple of the workshop participants had to say about their experience and what you can expect when you come along.

"The workshop was a great way to introduce us to Maggie and I walked away with a clearer understanding of our purpose going forward. Getting to work with other teams helped me view Maggie from different perspectives, and it set the scene for why we need to adapt and grow with our community needs. I'm most excited about new services - what these are going to look like and what we can offer in the future." - Sarah Hintz, Cancer Navigator.

"I found the workshop informative and super interactive. I really enjoyed the fact that everyone was so aligned - we may have different ways of getting to our goal but we're certainly on the same journey. It was great to collaborate on something that will benefit future generations. It's clear that CWC has transformed and we're entering a new way of thinking, becoming more adaptable and understanding of the communities we serve. I'm excited that we're in such an innovative space and to be working with other teams in other parts of Aotearoa - being part of one big entity is exciting!" - Sarah Bennett, Cancer Navigator.

Maggie Microsite.

The Transition Advisory Group (TAG) and Kaimahi Advisory Group (KAG) meetings are well underway, with the KAG having their second meeting this week. The focus for this group over the next couple of weeks is to gather content for a new section on Maggie called 'Who's Who' - here you'll be able to meet some of your Te Waipounamu colleagues, get to know the services offered within teach region and learn about some of the programmes and initiatives they've been working on. If you have some content you're keen to contribute to this, let your KAG rep know.

Also coming soon is 'Maggie in Action' - a place for you to share your stories of Maggie and her whānau as she comes to life in your day to day mahi. We saw a great example of this just last week with very first CWC and OS combined hui. Here's what Craig Watson had to say about it:

"We had our first Canterbury, West Coast, Otago and Southland combined Supportive Care Managers fortnightly hui today. Operationally the supportive care whānau are committed as working as a South Island as this is what our clients see with their healthcare. We are valuing the opportunity to share collective wisdom, to discuss community and health connections made, to problem solve and to feed up/down to/from senior management. From localities to surgical waitlists, from NGO connections to advice with access barriers there is so much great work being undertaken that should be shared and celebrated. We are looking at replicating the same South Island hui with our wider supportive care tīma."

Thanks to everyone who was at the hui for letting Craig grab snapshot of you all!

If you have stories and examples to share of Maggie in action, we'd love to see them - email them through to us via the Maggie contact page.

Maggie's whānau.

Back when we first introduced you to Maggie we talked about you meeting some of her whānau and friends, and we've been catching up with some of them over the last week to hear their stories. Soon you'll get to hear a bit more about them and their hopes and expectations of us, now and into the future.

That's a wrap.

That's it for this latest update, and given how cold it's been the last couple of days it's definitely time for wrapping...literally. Don't forget, if you have questions, ideas or feedback you can get in touch at any time. And finally, a huge thank you to everyone who has been part of Maggie over the last few weeks and contributing to our future and the future of Maggie and her whānau.

We'll be back in touch soon with more info and updates.

Wrap up warm whānau!

Meredith
