Kia ora e te whānau, and welcome to the very first Maggie update.
The project has officially kicked off and you'll see that we have a name and a home (well an online home at least). This site will be our main channel for communicating information, news and updates during the project so make sure you bookmark it and check back regularly.
While you're on here, make sure you check out The Project page, where you'll find the Project Principles, objectives and timeframes, and meet some of the people who are involved. We've started on some FAQ's which we'll keep adding to over time, and there's also a section for you to ask questions, share an idea or feedback, or get in touch for chat.
While we've been working on this site, we've also been working on the Terms of Reference for the project and the project workplan. These are important documents as they set out how the project will function, what needs to be delivered and when, and the actual work that's required. Then the real mahi begins!
Regional Workshops
One of the first things we'll be doing is scheduling a workshop in each region. Dates are still being finalised but likely to be end of June/early July. These workshops will be all about gathering input on what a future state could look like, i.e.: what whānau, donors, volunteers want and expect from us, and what we need to factor into our planning. We'll be in touch with leaders in each region shortly to organise these.
Kaimahi Advisory Group
We've also established a Kaimahi Advisory Group to help us throughout the project. This group includes – Michelle Hunt (Nelson-Tasman), Felicity Spencer (Marlborough), Amanda Dodd (Canterbury West-Coast) and Jonet Warhurst (Otago/Southland) and you can learn more about them on this site. This group will meet fortnightly hereon and will be a local point of contact for their respective regions.
Well, that's it for our very first update. Remember, if you have questions, ideas or feedback you can get in touch at any time - no question is a silly one and if you are wondering about something, then someone else is bound to be too! Enjoy checking out this site and we look forward to being out in the regions very soon.
Ngā mihi
Meredith
